U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that $300 million is being invested in improving the data collection process for greenhouse gas emissions. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released the Federal Strategy to Advance Greenhouse Gas Emissions Measurement, and investing these funds into relevant research projects is the first step of this strategic plan.
“This new investment by USDA in improving data and measurement of greenhouse gas emissions… is unmatched in its scope and potential to increase accuracy, reduce uncertainty, and enhance overall confidence in these estimates,” Secretary Vilsack said. “We’re data-driven, and we seek continuous improvement in our climate-smart agriculture and forestry efforts.”
